Coveted Game Of The Year Awards 2022

`The Game Awards for Game of the Year may only be in its ninth year, but it is already one of the most prestigious awards a video game developer can receive. Since its launch in 2014, The Game Award has crowned Dragon Age: Inquisition, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, Overwatch, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, God of War, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, The Last of Us Part II, and It Takes Two as the Game of the Year. Six titles make up the nominations to this year’s awards, each hoping to join that list of stellar titles.

Geoff Keighley created The Game Awards in 2014. Keighley, the host, and producer of the Spike Video Game Awards, quickly gained the support of the video game media. This particular Game of the Year award carries a lot of weight in the industry, not least because the voting jury consists of more than 100 members of the video game media. That jury’s thoughts make up 90$% of the vote, with the public vote counting for the other 10%. Public voting is open for the coveted Game of the Year award, with voters able to share their thoughts on six recent titles.

BlueTwelve Studio could not have anticipated the hype surrounding Stray almost immediately after its July 19, 2022, launch. There is currently no other game like Stray; where else can you play the role of a cat? Stray is a little short in terms of playing time, but that did not stop the Golden Joystick Awards from crowning the cat-based game as the PlayStation Game of the Year. Stray will garner plenty of votes from The Game Awards, but it finds itself in the company of far better titles to walk away with Game of the Year.

Stray is an upcoming video game developed by BlueTwelve Studio and published by Annapurna Interactive. The game is set in a neon-lit cyberpunk world and is played from a third-person perspective. It features an open-world environment and an emphasis on exploration and puzzle-solving. The game is set to be released on PlayStation 5 and PC.

A Plague Tale: Requiem – Asobo Studio / Focus Entertainment

Asobo Studio improved on the original by increasing the locations’ size and giving players additional options and puzzles to progress. Like Stray, this is a superb game worthy of a place in any gamer’s collection, but the opposition is too strong to see it walk away with the awards’ top honours.
